Minibus arrived punctually and we were escorted by Jake. The group were a mix of English and French and, though he was French, Jake spoke well and informatively in both languages. The trip down to the bay was reasonably comfy and then we got on to our longtail boat. Powered by a truck engine these are not quiet but we had an interesting trip round the mangroves before heading to James Bond island via a stop for a canoe trip. We got our touristy pictures and headed for lunch at the floating village. The lunch was superb.
Back by boat to where the minibus was parked and then to a nature reserve to see the monkeys. They all seemed to be asleep but a little food enticed them out. We then moved to the temple. We weren’t allowed in as previous tourists had ruined it for everyone by visiting in bikinis etc, so a bit of a let down but hey…
The day was hot and tiring but well worth it. Yes it is touristy but we got to see some of Thailand and some beautiful scenery. Jake and the driver (sorry I forget his name) were very attentive and looked after us well. Thank you. Back in time for tea and medals.
