Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve

Our day start visiting the magical cloud forest of Monteverde, an interesting morning walk exploring one of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth. Get in love about the exuberant vegetation lost in clouds. Learn all about the eco-relationship and facts of Flora and Fauna. Monteverde Reserve is also home of the famous and highly endangered Quetzal (pharomachrus mocinno) having an amazing opportunity to see this specie considered the most beautiful bird in America.

Curi-Cancha Reserve

After we have lunch, we are going to visit Curi-Cancha Reserve wich is a younger property with secondary and primary forest. We will exploring a transition forest with many open areas that makes it special for watching birds, like hummingbirds, trogons, toucans, tanagers, and migratory birds.

Monteverde Wildlife Refuge

For finishing our full day Tour, we are going to do a night Hike in the woods, in search of nocturnal wildlife, like amphibians, reptiles, insects, and nocturnal mammals, such as sloth, armadillo, kinkajou, olingo and wildcats. This activity is always recommended if never tried, we guarantee you will have so much fun learning about the night creatures.

You always hope to see lots of wildlife but Mother Nature is in charge. Our guide, Jonathan, worked overtime to get as much in as possible!! So passionate about what he does!

Great day in Monteverde to see Wildlife and Cloud Forest

Was a great experience with Mario. He stayed with us the entire day and was really dedicated with showing us as much wildlife as possible. I don’t think we would have seen almost anything if we didn’t go with a guide and he seemed very passionate and knowledgeable about the wildlife at the parks, especially the birds. Was a good experience and great way to see the wildlife of Monteverde. Note cost does not include entrance, food or transportation, so is pricey, but worth it in our minds.

Jonatan was an incredible guide! Despite an unexpected landslide that delayed our arrival by 5 hours, he graciously accommodated our schedule and ensured we still had an amazing experience. Jonatan shared his extensive knowledge about the cloud forest and its wildlife, making the tour both educational and unforgettable. To top it off, he even went out of his way to take us into town to see a sloth—a truly special moment! I highly recommend this tour, especially with Jonatan as your guide!

Our guide Mario was the most knowledgeable guide I’ve met. We did the full day curi-cancha, cloud forest and nighttime tour with him. His 15 years of experience was evident in the way he observed and found traces of insect and animal life. I learned a lot on this tour: about the animals, the flora (I love plants), and also about the humbling unpredictability of nature. It’s important you don’t expect that you’ll see an animal every 20 ft. You must be patient and accepting of the time and energy it takes to spot the wildlife, and that you may not spot what you intend, but this was all the more rewarding for us. Whenever we did spot wonderful wildlife like monkeys, sloths, snakes and toucans - the moment was exhilarating! Thank you to Mario for being so knowledgeable, energetic, memorable - for taking photos and videos through the scope lens. The memories of this day put a smile on my a face.

Mario was an experienced guide. My wife and I did not speak Spanish; but he was able bridge the language and cultural gap. He explained the climate, culture, food, and the reason why people have been flocking to Costa Rica. I would gladly use his expertise as guide if given the chance!
