Overview

An amazing day in Sintra that includes the highlights of the city and the surrounding coastal and rural area. Travel along the centenary tram line toward your first stop, the rural village of Colares. Visit one of the country's oldest wine cellars and learn about Portugal's ancient winemaking traditions. Continue along the coast toward your next stop, a whitewashed village located on top of the cliffs where you can take in views of the crashing waves of the Atlantic. Afterward, stop at some more breathtaking beaches along the coastline before stopping for lunch at a traditional restaurant in Sintra (not included). After lunch, head to the westernmost point of Continental Europe, Cabo da Roca, before heading to the fairytale Pena Palace where you can create your own fairytale.     Following the antique tram line inside the beautiful countryside we reach Colares, where life is simple and agriculture predominates as well as wine making! Here you can find the oldest wine seller in the country and we will take you there for a brief visit getting to know Portuguese's wine traditions a little better. (not available on Sundays)

  • Azenhas do Mar

    From the wine cellar, we head the spinning road trail to some of the stunning Portuguese beaches, Praia Grande and Praia Pequena, and stop at Azenhas do Mar - located between the ocean a big cliff, this small town has a heavenly location and is among the most appreciated and exciting beaches in Europe.

    This is not the only beach that we are going to show you so get ready, as there will be a parade of the most beautiful beaches on our coast or, as we dare to say, of our country! And the best part: as we are getting there ahead of the crowds, we are lucky enough to enjoy the vast ocean views avoiding instead the vast “oceans of people”.

Wonderful Guide!

We arrived in Sintra with no clear plans and minimal time. We met Luis by pure luck and he took us to the Pena Castle and stopped along the way to give us wonderful history stories. He even took the time to show us Cork trees and eucalyptus trees, as well as other nature tips. He also showed us the Moorish Castle and told us of the many famous people who have stayed in Sintra. In addition he took us to a nice cafe for traditional Sintra sweets and a light lunch. He could not have been more helpful or nice!

Great way to see Lisbon

Our tour guide Tomas Silva was amazing, kind, fun, and extremely knowledgeable! Our group included ages 4 months to over 70, English and Vietnamese speaking. Tomas showed us so much of Lisbon in the 2-3 days he spent with us. He would rearrange the tour to give us more access with less crowds so we could see the most, made us recommendations then reservations for great food. We were in 2 different buses that were both very comfortable, the drivers were wonderful, navigating the narrow streets with ease. I highly recommend WonderVan tours.
